John Calipari info starting to heat up

Two stories have come out this morning that have us UK fans wearing out the refresh button on their internet browswer.

First, Andy Katz at ESPN stated on TV that Calipari met with UK officials yesterday. A deal was put on the table, and Calipari is thinking about it.

Second, an article today on the web site of Memphis newspaper The Commercial appeal, claims that Calipari met with his players this morning, and told them that UK is the Notre Dame of basketball. After the meeting, most players agreed that Calipari would take the UK job.

Various radio and TV talking heads at ESPN have been talking about the story all morning, with the vast majority agreeing that this would be a match made in heaven. Someone also made a good point that, "coaches don't have meetings with players unless they are leaving". But, we've all seen these "done deals" before, so let's not get ahead of ourselves.

EDIT:

We are about to reach a boiling point!
  • The Memphis Atheletic Director was on the radio, and was asked if he thinks Calipari will be the Memphis coach at the end of today. He replied, "I don't think so". 
  • There are quotes by Memphis players starting to leak, saying that Calipari is probbably leaving.
  • Also, some reports of the contract are starting to leak, with an annual salary of anywhere from $4.5 to $6 million being reported.
